My story
I know what it feels like to arrive here and wonder how life will come together.
When my husband and I moved to Northwest Arkansas, I was excited about the opportunities ahead, but if I'm being honest, I was also scared.
We were moving away from friends in Central Arkansas and family in South Arkansas. I was pregnant with our first son and navigating two major life transitions at the same time: becoming a first-time mom and building a life in a place where I didn't know many people.
Those first months were hard.
I missed the people, places, and routines that felt familiar.
I started finding people by walking my son through the neighborhood in a stroller. Other new moms were doing the same thing, and eventually we started walking together. Getting plugged into a Bible study at church was a turning point. I found friends my age who became like sisters and older women who became like moms.
What I didn't realize at the time was that our next chapter in Northwest Arkansas would become the place where I planted roots, built a better version of home, and found a community that felt like family.
It started to feel like home when I went to the store and saw someone I knew. Then it happened at a restaurant, and other places too. People would say, "Hey, Jennifer."
That was when I realized I belonged here.
